Review

Flash Guard protects a user’s computer from being infected by viruses that spread through flash and USB drives. This program blocks the Autorun feature of pen-drives as well as other removable media drives. This application is very small and lightweight, therefore it can run smoothly even on low-end computer systems.

Flash Guard can be configured to start automatically upon the user's logon, thus providing additional security. Another main advantage of using Flash Guard is that it is fully customizable. For example, the user has the option to open a flash drive from the Windows Explorer without even deleting the virus contained there, if he/she wants. The program quickly prompts the user for an action if it detects autorun.inf or a similar type of autorun files on the user’s computer. The other notable feature of this application is that it is capable of removing additional menu items, which are added to the right click context menu in the Windows Explorer. The program is compatible with almost all common versions of Microsoft Windows such as Windows 98, 2000, Me, NT and XP.
Advantages
  • Small.
  • Easy to use.
  • Freeware.
Disadvantages
  • Unattractive.
